This idea started as most ideas do, from a garage. As my family grew in size I spent more and more time on my trainer with my terry cloth sweat cover. The version I had sometimes hit my knees as I pedaled and the velcro straps for mounting it were always in my way. I spent more time fiddling with the cover than I did concentrating on my work out. After working out I typically just left the cover on my bike and after a while I started to notice my headset bolts rusting. Further inspection showed that everything in there was rusted and beginning to fail. This was also around the time that Zwift beta was really taking off. I started to come up with different ideas and my best friend happened to be in an industry that used vinyl fabric. He gave me a roll of orange fabric and I found some electric fence wire I had laying around in the garage. This would allow me to mold the sweat cover so it didn’t hit my legs and I specifically wanted the front of the cover to protect the headset. I initially wanted it to be one-piece that would cover your headset as well as your handlebars but that idea was going to need someone much smarter than me, so I concentrated on the sweat cover only. As you can see in the picture it took several iterations before the final design was found and patented, US Patent No. 10807668. I make all the covers myself in my garage with a sewing machine.
